Overflow Student Ministry Family Fellowship
Details
If you are a family with students from 6th grade through 12th grade, please make plans to join us at The Annex on Wednesday evening, August 20th at 6 PM for a time of food and fellowship. You'll hear about our plans for the fall semester, meet your volunteer team, and even help us narrow down the focus of our study from the following options:
- Imago Dei: Why understanding your identity as God's image bearer is foundational to understanding how you listen to cultural voices about your worth and value today. We would seek to answer questions about where you draw your worth and value, how God would have you see your place in the world, and why the world around you is falling apart because of this issue. The desired outcome is finding a life of peace and security in Christ in a world full of anxiety and restlessness.
- Spiritual Disciplines: How getting back to the basics of life in Christ reframes how you live in this world. For hundreds of years, Christians have implemented practices that help them stay close to God, and grounded in their faith. We'll talk about devoting ourselves to the rhythms of Scripture reading, prayer, service, worship, and evangelism. And what about those practices that we see little of these days, like fasting, solitude and silence? Spending time in this study will help Christ followers learn and develop the tools to stay grounded in their faith.
- The Storyline of Scripture: Did you know there is an overarching storyline of Scripture? We spend much of our time studying parts of Scripture, like individual books like Acts or people like King David, but we seldom learn about the storyline of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. There is a larger story that unfolds in the Bible, and spending time learning it will help each of the parts of Scripture make more sense. The outcome of this study will have us glorifying God for the gift of the Bible, and help us understand God's plan for the world since before creation.
Although none of these topics is a direct book study, all three will be grounded in Scripture and applied as best we can to each student's level of understanding and maturity. We aim to grow together as disciples of Jesus and in community with one another as we journey along this glorious Way.
